Foundation Announces Creation of Military Advocacy Awards

March 6, 2017

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The Military Health Project & Foundation (MHPF) opened nominations for a new awards program recognizing efforts by those individuals leaving their imprint on the military community. Today's current-serving force and veteran communities continue to grapple with a range of issues associated with the aftermath of ongoing conflicts around the world. This award seeks to highlight the critical work of advocates fighting on behalf of the nation's heroes at a time when disconnect exists between elected leadership and everyday military families.

“We designed this awards program to recognize the individuals who are fighting to preserve or expand services, programs and benefits to the military and veteran’s community. We have opened up nominations for the Military Family and Veterans Advocate of the Year award because we want to learn about all of the amazing work that individuals are doing on behalf of the military community,” - Jacob Angel, Founder & President, said.

Nominations for the Military Family and Veterans Advocate of the Year can be submitted online by clicking here, a detailed explanation supporting each candidate is required. Additionally, the President’s Award is specifically designated for an individual who has had a substantial impact and demonstrated a commitment to the mission of the organization.

"It has been a privilege to work with so many passionate and dedicated military and veteran advocates that we designed the President’s Award to honor their work.  This award is given to an individual selected by our Board President on an annual basis. We know that advocating for the military and veteran’s community takes a multitude of people and we want to recognize our partners in activism." - Nicolette Lee, MHPF Board Member, said.

The deadline for submissions is April 5th, 2017 and are open to the public. The Military Health Project & Foundation Board will fully research and confirm the validity for all nominations submitted. The award recipients will be announced May 1, 2017 and all awards will be presented on May 11, 2017 at a private cocktail reception in Washington D.C.
